Need HELP with Nortan Antivirus 2008?

I bought the Nortan Antivirus at the store the other day. SO when i go to install it, it says i need to update to XP Service Pack 2 or higher. Ive done it twice already, still says the same thing. Can someone please tell me what im doing wrong or if im even doing the right update.

Right click on My computer go to properties it should show ur current windows version with service pack details. If u have genuine windows XP log on to windows update if the update ask u to install service pack2 then u have not properly installed service pack. U can upgrade Xp with genuine validation only.
