Why is Norton Antivirus the only one to detect the w32.blastclan.b virus?

w32.blastclan.b virus is a new virus detected first on 10 September 2007. Up to this time, only Norton Antivirus can successfully detect and remove it. Isn't this strange considering the virus has been out in the open for more than two months now?

It is not the only one:

Each antivirus software manufacturer names viruses differently. Perhaps the others just call it something different? Plus some antivirus software is starting to catch spyware, but this seems to be fairly selective, verging on the random in my opinion. So it's possible norton detects it as undesirable software rather than a virus, but the others don't classify it that way.
Others are probably detecting it under a different name. Most every anti-virus vendor will give a brand new virus (or other malware) there own unique name.

Latter on, the virus will sometimes be renamed to a more or less standardized one between all the members of the anti-malware industry.
