okay, my antivirus has a monitor on the toolbar. when i got on today, there was a red x beside the norton symobol(symbolizing something wasnt right). i entered the program and clicked fix, and it has processed the live updates, and says it is fixing the problem, but has been doing so for the last hour!
can anyone give suggestions of what to do? it says the protection updates were at risk, and checked for new ones (there were none), and now has a window that says norton is fixing your problem. it does not do anything beyond that! someone, please help! if you give suggestions, please explain how to do them.

I think you are talking about the fraud/phishing banner(green bar) in your browser. If it's not green, then you need to open up the tasks and settings window (right click the Norton icon in your system tray). Click Advanced settings, and make sure the first 3 boxes are checked. Save settings before exiting.

Norton is full of problems i had it a few years ago and uninstalled it,what a waste of money.

go to cnet.com/downloads and get AVG
run it and see what it quarantines, delete that
then run AVG again
It sounds like the connection has frozen. Try re-starting your computer.
