Avast and spyware doctor should be able to be installed as long as you don't have them running at the same time,it is reccommended that you have a least one decent av and 2 or 3 decent anti-spyware programmes on your pc.

With Spyware Doctor you should be able to disable the av,this will minimise the likelihood of false positives.

I don't know if you'll find this answer helpful. But I used Spyware Doctor for a year, and just couldn't get on with it, and just over a year ago I uninstalled it and replaced it with Spybot Search and Destroy, which I have found is perfectly compatible with Avast, and also, in my opinion much more thorough than Spyware Doctor.Good luck.
I don't know, but spyware doctor was not compatible with my windows vista for some reason. There are some that will say ''not compatible with windows vista'' and this one never said anything; so I paid for it and then had to get rid of it. I've paid for about 5 so far and have found that usually the best ones are the free ones; I swear to God.
you should be able to disable it, you can with spyware terminator at least, which is better by the way
Lucky you have it... You have to buy it though.
