You are right! I would say nod32 is good but is pretty pricey. Avast however is free but pcworld has rated the score 77 but i don't know about nod32's. i know nod32's is better than avast as you can tell by all the awards. so avast is good for free and nod32 good for detection. Nod32 is the best among all i used!

Nod32 is probably the best shareware anti-virus because of its high detection rate. Avast is free,not necessarily low system resource usage,detection rate is low.
I've been using NOD32 for almost a year now. I must say I really satisfied with it. NOD32 has good detection rate, fast, and the most important thing is: it uses very little memory (only 5 MB on my system).
It's threatsense engine not only detect viruses, but also worms, trojans, adware, spyware, and other potentially dangerous applications.
